Effective pain management is an essential component of maintaining the quality of life of your pet. Pain management is a team effort, with the pet owner functioning as an integral part of the team. The cause of the pain can be acute injury or chronic disease such as arthritis. This includes pets that become lame after playing/hiking and senior pets that have ongoing degenerative changes in their backs and/or joints including hip dysplasia. Common signs include stiffness, limping, inability to rise, reluctance to jump or even climb stairs, and noticeable pain when touching an area.
There are several treatment modalities and the treatment package varies with each case and can include laser therapy, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, pain medication, joint supplements, weight management etc.
